The excellent British Design 1948-2012: Innovation In The Modern Age opens at the V&A in London tomorrow, 31st March 2012. The exhibition features over 300 British design objects highlighting significant moments over the period, from the post-war 'Austerity Games' of 1948 right up to the present day. We went along to the opening night and here are a few snaps (please excuse the iPhone quality images, ahem).

One of the items chosen is the Antelope chair designed by Matthew Hilton for SCP.

The UK Launch of our new 2012 Collection is this weekend, 3rd and 4th March. The entire collection which includes upholstery, furniture, rugs and textiles by Matthew Hilton, Kay+Stemmer, Donna Wilson and others will be on show at our Shoreditch store and a selection of the range at our Westbourne Grove store.
If you're coming to Shoreditch we will be offering tea and coffee and a little bite to eat. But at either store you can check out the new pieces and meet the team who will be happy to answer any questions you may have. See you there.

One of our favourite design sites Disegno interviewed design duo Faudet-Harrison about their Kenneth sofa for SCP. Follow the duo from their East London studio to our SCP Shoreditch store as the boys discuss the design processes behind their pieces.

Didn't make it to Paris for Maison & Objet? Relive all the fun of the fair with these great videos by Intro, our favourite Romanian stockist. See not just SCP, but also Hay, Pinch and Tom Dixon in detail. All set to a slightly offensive techno soundtrack. Enjoy.

We will be showing our brand new 2012 Collection at Home 15th-17th January and Maison & Object 20th-24th January. Featuring new designs by Donna Wilson, Faudet-Harrison,Ineke Hans, Kay + Stemmer and Matthew Hilton.

If you are in Sissinghurst, make sure to pop along to the Telling Tales illustration exhibition at Merriecroft. From 24th November until 10th December you can see charming illustrations for children's books by six new designers, one of whom is SCP's very own Susanna Moores (her work is pictured above and below). Visitors are welcome without appointment Wednesday - Friday 2.30 - 5.30pm and Saturdays 10.30am - 5.30pm.

We've cleared out our basement and discovered a treasure trove of vintage design magazines. Interested? Come into our Curtain Road store this weekend and bag yourself a 1998 Wallpaper, a 1991 Blueprint or whatever you fancy. Wallpaper magazines will be £1 and everything else will just be a voluntary donation, first come first served, all proceeds will go to our Movember team fund. Give to a good cause and pick up a piece of design history this weekend.

We'd like to say a warm welcome to new kid on our Bloc, Bloc Salon. The brainchild of the lovely Michael, Bloc is a small but perfectly formed salon whose clients include Elite Models. The space will also be used as a pop-up gallery space once they get going. Check out some of Michael's work and goings-on in the salon at their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/BLOCSALONLondon?sk=wall.

Head to Yorkshire Sculpture Park from 19th November to see Donna Wilson's Endangered Species exhibition. Endangered Species draws inspiration from the landscape to create an eccentric world of knitted trees and curiosities featuring her trademark patterns and colours alongside exclusive limited edition prints.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park commissioned Donna to create her first, limited edition print (above) to accompany the exhibition. This print has been produced exclusively for the YSP in a run of 100.

Endangered Species will run at the beautiful Yorkshire Sculpture Park until 26th February 2012. Miss it, miss out.

The Shoreditch Design Triangle will be taking place again this year as part of the London Design Festival. With more participants involved than ever before it promises to be a fantastic event bringing together thirty-four local galleries, shops, studios, cafés and bars. We have also partnered up with Dezeen this year as our media partner so keep an eye on their website for information and updates.
On Tuesday 20th September most locations will be staying open late and hosting an array of special launches, parties and workshops. With such a broad spectrum of businesses involved this year, there really is something for everyone whether that be light installations in Liverpool Street, a pop-up bar on Redchurch Street or a seminar series on Rivington Street. All the venues are within easy walking distance around the Shoreditch Triangle so head East and make a night of it.
