The Moomins are the creation of a Finnish writer and artist, Tove Jansson, and have become one of Finland’s most famous exports. The first products with Moomin illustrations at Arabia were a set of children’s dishes launched in the 1950’s. However due to their re-surgence in popularity this range of decorated mugs and plates were introduced in the 1990’s. Made in dish washer safe porcelain the designs are based on the original illustrations of Tove Jansson and adapted for the 1990’s by Tove Slotle-Elevant and Camilla Moberg.
