The Joyce extending table is a piece of exceptional craftsmanship, it is a handsome lightweight design that combines beautiful detailing with an unobtrusive extending mechanism. Joyce is made from solid ash or walnut, with three tops available, one in ash veneer, one in walnut veneer and one in white laminate on birch plywood. In repose, the slight splay and gentle taper of the legs give the table an elegant, well-proportioned and rigid look. Whilst extended, it is the small details such as the chamfered edges and rounded corners of the tabletop, or the angular form of the mortise and tenon leg joint that help the Joyce maintain its visual poise. The table has two leaves concealed under the top in a cork inlayed tray that is opened by unlocking latches on either side of the top. By using one or both of the leaves the table can be extended from 4 to 6 seats, or 6 to 8 seats. The Joyce table is a triumph of both craft and advanced wood manufacturing techniques.
