
SCP present a new range of products for Spring / Summer 2012. Launching internationally for the first time are new designs from Matthew Hilton, Donna Wilson, Ineke Hans, Faudet-Harrison and Kay+Stemmer. Also in the collection are new versions of designs from Lee Kirkbride, Peter Marigold and Gareth Neal.
Lucas sofa and bench / Matthew Hilton
The Lucas sofa by Matthew Hilton expertly infuses a traditional design typology with modern aesthetics. The design combines clean lines with subtle bottleneck curves to create a piece that is comfortable and perfectly proportioned. Deft details such as the taper of the turned oak legs and the slight protrusion of the seat cushion give this piece its poise. The sofa is made with an FSC approved beech frame, jute webbing and hessian straps and then covered with a mix of materials that includes natural fibres, animal hair and wool. The two seat cushions are feather filled. A fully upholstered bench is also available.

Lucas armchair / Matthew Hilton
The Lucas armchair by Matthew Hilton expertly infuses a traditional design typology with modern aesthetics. Kenneth sofa / Faudet-Harrison
The Kenneth sofa by design duo Faudet-Harrison is a visually light piece that blends comfort with a formal sensibility. With space saving in mind, the sofa covers a small footprint and sits proudly on tall gently tapered solid ash legs. This piece is designed to create a cradle like sitting position, with curvaceous support provided by the generously upholstered arms and back. The sofa is made with an FSC approved beech frame, jute webbing and hessian straps and then covered with a mix of materials that includes natural fibres, animal hair and wool. The two seat cushions are feather filled.

Oscar compact three seat sofa / Matthew Hilton
The Oscar sofa strikes a pleasing balance between modernity and tradition, large in size yet light in appearance. The sofa is made from a European hardwood frame, jute webbing and hessian straps and then covered with a mix of Colors that includes natural fibres, animal hair and wool. It features two large feather cushions that are notable for their depth, the back has a line of sewn in pulls, lending the sofa the appearance of a buttoned back, without the actual buttons. The feet are made from walnut stained beech, with the front two being turned versions. By contrasting long straight lines with delicate natural curves, Hilton has created a piece that is both reserved and full of humility. The Oscar sofa is a piece perfect for those who like their modernity laced with a little familiarity.

Bertha armchair / Donna Wilson
The Bertha armchair by Donna Wilson is an exciting joint project between SCP and the Shorefast Foundation on Fogo Island. The design takes inspiration from the traditional boat building found on the Island. The frame is made from FSC approved Douglas Fir and is designed to provide both rigidity and strength. The sides of the frame are flat whilst the four back panels gently kick outwards like a boats hull. The feet are part of the frame design, this gives the piece the sense of a beautifully crafted continuous line. The loose drop seat has elasticated webbing with neatly fitting feather and down seat and back cushions upholstered in Bora Da Willow fabric.

Like the Bertha armchair and sofa, the cabinet takes inspiration from the traditional boat houses found on Fogo island, Newfoundland. The curved wooden panels emulate the shingle clad buildings on the island and the feet, which are part of the frame design, gives the piece the sense of a beautifully crafted continuous line. The frame is made from FSC approved ash and is designed to provide both rigidity and strength. Made in the EU.

Welland collection / Ineke Hans
The Welland stool, bench and table collection by Ineke Hans is her first range of designs for SCP. Beautifully crafted and constructed, each piece is made from individually cut sections of solid ash using advanced wood manufacturing techniques. This effortlessly elegant design is a simple blend of curves and straight lines. For comfort, the stool, chair and bench feature a slightly concave seat made in two sections. Each piece retains its visual balance through minor refinements to individual component dimensions. The Welland collection is a proportionally accurate set of designs, flexible and rigid in construction and ultimately very pleasing on the eye. The collection is available in red stain, or natural ash.

May side table / Kay+Stemmer
The Parnham School trained duo Kay+Stemmer have designed a new version of the popular freestanding shelves Edith and Agnes. May is a low three-shelf version of the design, ideal as a beside table or for small hallways. It is made from solid oak or walnut with veneered shelves. May comes "out of the box" as a solid one piece item, with no assembly required. The design has the hallmarks of classical furniture-making training; details include radius edges, a gentle upwards taper and perfect proportion.

The Parnham School trained duo Kay+Stemmer have designed a new version of the popular freestanding shelves Edith and Agnes. Cricket bench / Kay+Stemmer
The Cricket bench by Kay+Stemmer is a lengthened and lowered seating version of the classic "cricket table" typology. The bench has four legs with a slight outward splay, giving the piece stability and strength. Modest yet elegant, the bench uses a simple wedged tenon joint to hold the legs in place. The corners and edges of the solid oak top are softly sanded to create a smooth finish, whilst the walnut legs have a reverse taper that brings an aesthetic balance to the overall design.

Cricket side table and dining table / Kay+Stemmer
The Cricket table by Kay+Stemmer is a new design interpretation of the classic "cricket table" typology, believed to date back to the Jacobean period in Britain. This version has four legs rather than three, but retains the outward splay of the legs that lends the table its stability and strength. This modest yet elegant design uses a simple wedged tenon joint to hold the legs in place. The corners and edges of the solid oak top are softly sanded to create a smooth finish, whilst the centrally positioned walnut legs have a reverse taper that brings an aesthetic balance to the overall design.

The Arthur pouffe by Donna Wilson is the latest of her occasional seating designs for SCP. The low lying pouffe features a piping detail at its top edge. It is made with specially designed hard-wearing fabric.

The Albert floor cushion by Donna Wilson is a very low lying cylindrical floor cushion with the added practicality of a side mounted handle and leather base. Designed for occasional seating or resting it brings a little softness to the home. It is made with specially designed hard-wearing fabric and is feather filled.

Frank, Ernest and Henry in Caspian Braid / Donna Wilson
Frank, Ernest and Henry pouffes by Donna Wilson are now available in a new knitted fabric named Braid. Braid in Caspian, designed by Donna Wilson, is knitted in Scotland from 100% lamb’s wool using a traditional Fairisle knitting technique. Each pouffe is made by hand stuffing Calico bags with 100% recycled PET fibre and upholstering them with the knitted panels, reminiscent of segments of an orange. The pouffes come in three sizes. Henry is a slightly taller cylinder shape while Frank and Ernest are a lower flattened ball shape in two sizes. The pouffes are designed to bring a little softness, intimacy and colour into the home. Also available in Nos Da, Bora Da, Zig Zag and Treecloud. Made in UK.

Bora Da / Donna Wilson & SCP
The 2012 Collection sees the introduction of new colourways to Bora Da: Pink Slate and Willow. The Bora Da fabric is made from British wool that is specially spun and dyed in England and then woven in Wales by a traditional mill that has been in the same family for over a century. Bora Da uses a single ply fine wool, which is both soft and strong. The result is a fine fabric that is lighter in nature than its sister fabric Nos Da. Using a time-honoured double cloth weaving technique Donna has been able to create a pleasing multi-layered aesthetic, full of character.SCP and Donna Wilson are delighted to tap into the rich thread of British textile. Made in the UK.

Fairisle is a hand-loomed rug. The 2012 Collection sees the introduction of two new colourways: Mineral Grey and Rose Cloud. Its chunky knit texture and brightly coloured zigzag pattern resembles a classic Fairisle sweater design. The rug is made from 100% New Zealand wool. Made in India. 100% New Zealand Wool.
