Hand carved iguana
Although Oaxacan wood carvings have been around for less than 60 years, they have become one of the most popular folk art styles in Mexico. Freshly-cut copal wood is carved using kitchen and pocket knives, with the shape of the branch dictating what can be made. Once carved and sanded, each piece is meticulously painted with acrylic. Every design is signed by the artisan.
Made in Mexico. Each is one-of-a-kind and may vary in size.
The Oaxaca collection is made up of contemporary craft and accessories from the southwestern region of Mexico. Earlier in 2016, SCP founder Sheridan Coakley took a trip to the region, where he found a vibrant community of makers whose work is a wonderful fusion of influences. This collection is an idiosyncratic edit of homeware, textiles and decorative objects.
