Ineke Hans
Ineke Hans was born in 1966 in the Netherlands. She graduated from the Royal College of Art in London in 1995 with an MA in furniture design and worked for Habitat UK . In 1998 she returned to The Netherlands where she founded her studio INEKEHANS/ARNHEM.
Initially the emphasis of her work was self-initiated furniture and product design. In 1997 Ineke had her first show of self-initiated work at the Tramshed in London. A selection of these products are still sold internationally as part of INEKEHANSCOLLECTION. Her early shows in London and Milan attracted the attention of large design companies and she began to collaborating with manufacturers from 2000 onwards. In 2004 Ineke launched her first range with new Dutch brand RoyalVKB. She has won several design awards for her work with this brand.
Ineke Hans is interested in areas where intuition, functionality, poetry, history, production-techniques and basic human reality meet. Old and brand new production methods are used in intelligent and unconventional ways. Innovation in materials and techniques and a re-think of existing human values have become important influences for her new work.
Ineke now works with a small team on a wide range of projects including furniture, products and jewellery as one-offs, small batches or mass-produced items. In addition to this, the studio works on exhibition and architectural projects.
Ineke Hans is regarded as one of leading Dutch designers and in 2009 she was guest of honour at the Stockholm Furniture Fair. Her work has won international awards and is purchased by collectors and museums worldwide. Among her clients are Ahrend, Arco, Cappellini, Chi ha Paura, Magis, Offecct, RoyalVKB.
2012 sees Ineke’s first range for SCP, named the Welland collection. Comprising a table, bench and stool, the range is the culmination of years of contact between Ineke and SCP.
