Kay + Stemmer

Integrity, elegance, longevity and a passion for wood are the core elements that make Kay+ Stemmer’s furniture so deeply pleasing. They are intuitive designers with a proven track record in creating covetable designs that fit perfectly into people’s lives and homes.

Their pedigree can be traced back to renowned Parnham College in Dorset where they both studied fine cabinet making and furniture design (Andrea Stemmer '87-89 and Sarah Kay '95-'97). They formed their partnership in 2000 when asked to design and make full ranges of bespoke furniture for luxury hotel Cowley Manor, which was then followed by private commissions and retail ranges.  

Their first collaboration with SCP in 2007 resulted in the Edith and Agnes free-standing shelves. These have gone on to be best sellers and the range keeps growing. With new products added to the collection each year, SCP now offers 15 different designs by Kay + Stemmer.

The elegance and endurance of their furniture belies the intense creative process of refinement and authentic use of materials and techniques. Which is why a Kay+Stemmer piece feels both contemporary and timeless.
