Russell Pinch
Born in 1973, Russell Pinch graduated from Ravensbourne College of Design, London. After graduating he worked as Sir Terence Conran‚Äôs design assistant and in 1995 he became a Senior Product Designer for the Conran Group. Here he was responsible for developing a diverse range of products for the Conran shops and restaurants and many of the designs for the Conran Collection, Conran‚Äôs benchmark homeware collection.After 5 years with Conran, Pinch co-founded The Nest, a multi-disciplinary brand design agency with clients including British Airways, MFI, WHSmith, Rip Curl and Selfridges. In 2004 he founded PINCH, a furniture, product and interior design company. His first collection of furniture was launched at 100% Design, London to widespread critical acclaim. Pinch was awarded the Blueprint/100% Design Best Newcomer award and the Design & Decoration Furniture Award 2005. Since then Pinch has launched a range for Benchmark Furniture, designed the Claude Sofa for Liberty and worked on a variety of interiors projects.Pinch‚Äôs approach is to design beautiful, quality products for real peoples’ lives; making them simple, elegant and approachable. The focus is on pieces with a timeless quality, designed and built to last, that work in a variety of environments – from concrete to country. Pinch‚Äôs style is not dictating, not dominating yet thoroughly engaging.After the success of pinch‚Äôs inaugural range for SCP in 2006, SCP launched a new range of Pinch designs at the 2007 Milan Furniture Fair. Designs included both wooden and upholstered pieces comprising of a coffee table, a folding drop leaf table, a dresser, an armchair and a sofa.
