In keeping with the celebratory spirit of SCP’s thirtieth year, our founder Sheridan Coakley found it difficult to resist the temptation to create some unconventional products, things more like conceptual propositions than objects of mass production. He gave a number of SCP designers a free hand to decide what material, scale and form they would like to work with. They were welcome to work with their own hands, utilise specialist manufacturing techniques, or even make individual appropriations from elsewhere in the palette of things that exists already.
The resulting collection is called SCP Editions, or things we might not otherwise have made. Theses objects acknowledge the history SCP has of working with those who are perhaps closer to being artists than designers, and the interplay between the two disciplines which has been in evidence throughout time.
Editions from Oscar Coakley, Reiko Kaneko, Sarah Kay, Peter Marigold, Michael Marriott, Andrea Stemmer and Donna Wilson.
In 2016, SCP worked with Marriott to add to the collection, creating a new colourway featuring the same Carrara marble.
