Daybed

Rachel Whiteread | SCP

The Daybed by Rachel Whiteread was originally designed as part of the Please Touch exhibition at SCP in 1999, a show of furniture pieces by contemporary artists. The piece is closely related to a group of sculptures that Whiteread made in the early 1990s in rubber and plaster, which explored the space underneath a single bed. Daybed is made from a solid beech frame with multi-density foams. Upholstered in a selected colour range of Bute Tiree. Made in Norfolk, UK.
