The inspiration for the Facet collection first came to Piet Hein Eek when he saw his children using a pasta roller. The Dutch designer works with ceramics in a similar way as he does metal; folding and joining the two dimensional material to create three dimensional shapes. For this reason the 'seams' between the different sides are raised, to give definition to the piece, and appear similar to a welded joint.
Due to their fragile nature and individually assembly, the facet vase high is akin to a work of art. Each one is unique, and shares the same ethic as the furniture created as part of the Waste Material Project.
