Round split cane patterned basket
Each basket is hand-woven from Carrizo - a bamboo style plant that grows in ditches and creeks all around the Valles Centrales of Oaxaca. To make the basket strips of Carrizo are woven together to create the shell of the basket. Finer pieces of the plant are woven around the skeleton to seal the basket. Once completed, the basket is left to dry where it becomes hard and ridged.
The Oaxaca collection is made up of contemporary craft and accessories from the southwestern region of Mexico. Earlier in 2016, SCP founder Sheridan Coakley took a trip to the region, where he found a vibrant community of makers whose work is a wonderful fusion of influences. This collection is an idiosyncratic edit of homeware, textiles and decorative objects.
