Walter Gropius, who was Director of the Bauhaus at the time, built his first private house in the Bauhaus style, Auerbach in 1924. The building is one of the most important milestones of the early years of Bauhaus. Visually striking due to its authentic interior colour scheme, which were preserved when the house was restored in 1990, preserving almost all original details, including the 37 original pastel tones.
