Project Chandigarh Collection
The Project Chandigarh Collection is an homage to modernist design fuelled by the making of Chandigarh, the first planned city of independent India, in the 1950s. Phantom Hands' re-editions of the mid-century furniture created for the city follow the craftsmanship and philosophy of making that governed their first versions.
Improving upon the original designs structurally and materially, the furniture remains true to their handcrafted carpentry and uses traditional joinery techniques. As in the past, the natural rattan cane used for the seats and backs of our chairs are peeled and hand woven by hand, by highly skilled weavers with generations of craft knowledge.
